Idle on the move

This trip was almost due. Ten years of continuous stay, this life of a techie needed a move. Constraints will be there, priorities need to come at some point … if not at the onset.

Packing will be troublesome, so will be the journey. From a house that was marked ‘owned’ to be someone’s tenant, it won’t be easy. A new location, new culture, may be newer adventures … lots of them in store for us.

Dad’s not moving … may be he won’t. His social life, fondness for familiar fellows will keep him hooked to hometown

But I need to move. This city looks saturated, or may be the recession, as jobs don’t come easy. There are political disturbances. Opportunities, they are not what my city is now known for.

A new setup to start from scratch, that makes my body go numb. A new beginning is what is so allergic, changes are tricky. May be I waited too long to move … may be I should have moved earlier. Deeper roots don’t detach easily.

Bangalore or Pune? Time will tell …

For this time, I am getting myself prepared. To me, the sole focus is my work. They say one needs to stay employed and keep growing. I am no stranger to problems, and they will need to be looked into.

Trying to look forward now. The time has come for me to relocate. Lots of soul-searching, numerous discussions … and may be, some more.

Need to move now … or otherwise, it may be too late for me.

i think its a right decision.. primary reason of me leaving Kolkata (even when i loved the city so much, as u know) was career opportunity and the lack of work-culture in the political system there

i wish u best of luck

hope u will not move from the Park :)

If you decide to come to Bangalore, drop a comment at my blog. I would love to meet you.

For elderly people the hometown and their own people have more value. They do not find it justified to leave all those people and perhaps they are right, it isn't good time now to start everything from scratch. Whereas, the youngsters, that is us, can do that easily.

Wishing you that the move you have decided will allow you to seek newer avenues and scale greater heights professionally.

Do stay with us on this blog no matter which part of the world you move to. :-)

after living in calcutta for 16 years i have realized the fact that it is not the best place to build a good career(unless you are working in public sector)....at the time of independence calcutta was in a great shape but sadly it has only gone downhill since...i hate the bandh culture...

it's always difficult to begin from scratch but i am sure you will do just fine...wishing you all the luck...take care..

All, I hope to continue in the Park ... this is just a goddamn addiction that's getting difficult to get away from. But there may be minor hiccups ... teething problems, as TT said.

I know its a difficult decision to move from a place where we spent most of our growing years, but as they say, change is the only constant in life, and one needs to take painful decisions to progress in life.. Am sure you are taking the right decision and this move will open a lot of new avenues for you.. All the best and God Bless :)

a body tends to be in its state of rest or of uniform motion until and unless an external force is applied....

IdleMind said...

@ deja vu - hehehe, the external force is something that changes the state ... and so I am ... moving into a new one!

@idle : no doubt abt the fact that Kolkata has a _maya_ around it.

it has been so menay years now that i left that city, but my heart still beats bit faster when i think about being there. there is something in Kolkata thats not anywhere else.. a character. a persona....

ahhhh... miss that city..

but yeah, not good for career. not at all

@ Chhaya - the heart doesn't obey, but the head rules! I get that small sigh ... the career and a heart are like that only!! :)

Yes, Moving out from a place that you were deeply attached to, is very pain giving and many times it makes us reluctant at our decisions.. Probably thats what people call life to - Move On..

well, it's time to pack your bags now!!

relocating makes you nostalgic and also burns a lot of calories with and not to forget here it gives a lot of mental pressure but once you settle in the new place then you feel the fun of relocation.

Best Wishes to you and your family!!
